Ingredients

- 5 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, plus more to taste
Instructions
- Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.
- Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- While potatoes cook, heat cream, milk, and butter in a saucepan until butter melts.
- Sauté garlic in the butter mixture for 1 minute.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
- Pour the warm cream mixture over the potatoes.
- Mash with a potato masher or beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, roast the garlic before mincing.
- You can add more milk or cream to adjust the consistency.
- Garnish with fresh chives or parsley.
